Roti

Serves: 6

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg Wheat Flour
  • 3 tbsp Sugar
  • To taste Salt
  • 150 ml Curd
  • 1 tbsp Oil

Instructions

Combine the wheat flour, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
Add the curd to the dry ingredients and mix well to form the dough.
Knead the mixture, gradually integrating all the flour, until it forms a smooth dough.
Drizzle the dough with 1 tablespoon of oil and knead again to incorporate the oil into the dough evenly. Massage the dough well so it becomes a smooth dough.
Cover the dough with a lid or cling film and rest for 2 hours. This resting period allows the dough to soften and makes it easier to roll out the rotis later.

Making Roti:

After resting the dough:
Divide the dough into small portions. (approximately 20 balls)
Heat a tawa or flat skillet over medium heat.
Take one dough ball at a time and roll it into a flat, round shape.
Place the rolled-out dough onto the hot tawa. Cook until tiny bubbles appear on the surface, then flip it to cook the other side. Press gently on the roti using a cloth to help it puff up.
Once both sides are cooked and have light brown spots, remove the roti from the tawa.

Serve the rotis hot with vegetable kurma or any other side dish you choose. Enjoy your meal.
